Karen Paradis knows all too well how important a new haircut can be. With 19 years experience as a hairstylist right here in London, she’s seen all kinds of smiling faces leave her chair at the end of the day. “Nothing feels better than a new do,” says Paradis. “You smile a little brighter and stand a little taller with a fresh, new haircut.” she explains.
When Karen heard about the Back To School In Style campaign focusing on providing school supplies for our Rotholme kids, she knew she had to be involved. “It’s so important for these children to fit in,” says Paradis. “We can outfit them with a snazzy new backpack and a new pair of shoes, but I wanted to give them a brand new look.”
Paradis arrived at Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter on Wednesday, August 29, wielding a slick black bag filled with all the tools it takes to create that hip new look. She laid out her bag of tricks and went straight to work. The smiles that radiated from each child who hopped off of the chair made it all worthwhile. “If I can help them walk through that classroom door a little prouder, a little bolder, then I’ve definitely done my job.” she says. Thank you to Karen for her generous donation. We are so grateful for the members of our community who lend their time, their energy and their support.

Karen Paradis works at Chez Michelle Hair Studio in London. She has graciously donated her services to Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter for an entire year.
