The Volunteer Canada website refers to volunteers as part of our Canadian identity.  Over 13.3 million people volunteer in Canada and they are essential to maintaining our communities.  I want to echo those sentiments and relate them to Mission Services of London.

Volunteers have always been an integral part of the ministry that Mission Services of London has provided for 61 years.  We could not provide all of our programs or offer all of our services without the contribution of our many volunteers, much of it behind the scenes.  Our kitchen would not be the quality kitchen it is without the contribution of our many volunteers, including Jean Williams and Veronica Trudell, who spoke at our volunteer luncheon on Thursday, April 19.

Thank you to all of our volunteers for your incredible contributions.  You remind us that no one stands alone and in some sense you have allowed us, the employees of Mission Services of London, to stand on your shoulders.  Through your actions, you answer the question posed by Jesus, “Who is my neighbour?”  You answer as you display your compassion.  You answer as you give hope with integrity of thought, word and deed.  You answer as you tirelessly perform your duties with diligence, for those who are in need.
