As part of a unique, national program that aims to add colour to people’s lives, leading Canadian paint brand Dulux donated paint, supplies and an experienced crew to transform Quintin Warner House into a more upbeat living space.
Quintin Warner House, a branch of Mission Services of London has been providing both safe housing and addiction treatment services since 1957. Situated in the historic West Woodfield neighbourhood, clients progress through a 16 week residential treatment program before graduating to the recovery/aftercare program. A rehabilitative atmosphere helps clients establish self-esteem, responsibility, confidence and trust.
It was a true painting party with staff, clients, volunteers and the Dulux team lead by manager Nick Richard lending a hand and watching the quick and magnificent transformation. “When I spoke to the volunteers, I told them not to think about just brushing paint onto a bunch of walls,” said Jon DeActis, Director of Quintin Warner House. “I told them to think about what they’re bringing to the lives of the men within these walls. This is so important to them.”
Volunteers from the Village Green Community Church proved they could definitely handle a brush and a roller as they went straight to work. The once drab, green walls of one of Quintin Warner House’s aftercare annexes now sparkles with a cheerful coat of blue.
Many thanks to our hard working volunteers for their enthusiasm and elbow grease. Also, a big thank you goes out to Telus Customer Solutions SMB National Sales Contact Centre. Unmistakable in their bright green Telus shirts, they presented DeActis with care packages containing toiletries and other items which are often a necessity upon arrival into the program. Plus, they threw on hair nets and served a delicious BBQ lunch to keep our paint crews hydrated and energized.
This painting party was held as part of the Let’s Colour global initiative supported in Canada by industry leader Dulux and it’s parent company, AkzoNobel, to increase colour awareness and add colour to people’s lives. We are boundlessly grateful and appreciative for the lift that this transformation brings to not only the walls of the house, but to the spirits of the men who live there.
